Continue reading to learn the answers to some of the most common gutter-related questions from homeowners.

#1: How often should I clean my gutters?

We recommend that you clean your gutters approximately twice a year. If you see leaves or sticks in the gutters, plants growing, or rainwater flying off the roof, there’s a good chance your gutters need cleaning.

Extra protective materials on your gutters such as leaf guards, may allow you to go longer periods of time without cleaning them as these help keep debris from getting in the gutters.

#2: Why do I need downspouts, and how many do I need?

Downspouts allow your gutters to efficiently move water away from the roof and foundation of your house to the street. They create a drainage system that is unique to your home.

We generally recommend downspouts to be installed every 20 to 30 feet of gutter. However, more may be required depending on your home’s rooflines and the slope of the roof.

#3: Which type of gutters are best for my home?

We always recommend seamless aluminum gutters to homeowners in Orlando because they have fewer seams and joints in the gutters and downspouts.

Aluminum gutters are available in many colors and can last decades without rusting. They also provide lower annual repair costs compared to other gutter materials. Seamless gutters also provide for less leaks and are made to withstand heavy debris and strong winds.

Our custom-built seamless gutters are designed to keep water away from your home and feature a baked-on enamel finish that never needs paint.

#4: Are bigger gutters better?

Our team typically recommends larger sized gutters because they offer some added protection from weather-related damages, which is especially important in the Central Florida area.

The extra space on larger gutters provides for a larger capacity to handle the rainwater and debris that flow through. This means there is less risk of clogging and better protection against water damage, especially for those heavy Florida storms.
