I already have regular gutters. Why go seamless?

Choosing to go seamless not only saves you big bucks in the long run due to costly repairs associated with traditional gutters, but seamless gutters are also more durable, have significantly less leaks, and have a baked-on enamel finish — so you never need to worry about painting! Overall, seamless gutters let much less water get through them because they are part of one large piece of gutter. Less leakage means less standing water around your home – making your home less vulnerable to costly water damage.

When working with an experienced contractor, the normal turnaround time for a project like this is just one day. Since seamless gutters are made to custom-fit your home, most contractors will cut and form your gutters on site the day of the project, to ensure they’re the perfect fit for your home.

I love the look of railings but don’t know if they fit with my home. Where should railings go and what materials can I choose from?

Most people don’t know this but railings look great all around your home, not just around a front porch or balcony! Railing can be placed under and around windows, beside walkways, up against walls, and they can act as an elegant way to fence in your yard. Materials range from vinyl, aluminum, chain and ornamental options like wrought iron. These materials vary in their durability, maintenance, versatility, and cost.

Not sure which would look best with your home and style? By consulting a professional who is experienced in railing installation, they can help you brainstorm ideas to find the best color and material combinations. They’ll listen to your preferences and concerns from the beginning so you and your contractor are on the same page.

Do I need a permit to install a screen enclosure?

Yes. Due to rules and regulations that city and county permitting offices require, a permit must be obtained for most renovations and remodeling jobs completed at your home.

When you hire a licensed contractor to install your screen enclosure, part of their responsibility is to obtain all necessary work permits before the building begins. Red flags to look out for are when a contractor asks you to acquire the building permit yourself or if the contractor says it’s okay to work without one. Staying informed on what to watch out for is the best way to keep you and your family safe.

How can I maintain the look and upkeep of my screen enclosure?

The best way to clean and maintain your screen enclosure without damaging the screen is to do so by hand using warm water, a mild cleaning solution (dish detergent or vinegar & water mix) and a soft bristled brush. Lightly run the brush over the screen back and forth or up and down, rinse with water from your garden hose, and allow the screen enclosure to dry.

Unless you have experience, using a power washer is not advised because it is easy to use too much power which can quickly damage the screen. Strong cleaning solutions such as bleach are not recommended because they can end up discoloring your frame.

To avoid routine maintenance, consider the material and frame of your screen. Aluminum frames tend to be the strongest and do not deteriorate in comparison to other frames over time. Fiberglass screens are stronger than Phifer or artisan wire, outlasting the latter by many years. By choosing a screen enclosure that stands tougher against the elements, it will be easier for you to maintain over the years.

The standard soffit panels I have on my home are not vented. Should I add venting to my soffit?

Most certainly! Living in a heat intense climate like Florida, vented soffits are a must because they ensure your roof and attic are properly ventilated, preventing moisture build-up which often results in mold and roof rot. When heat builds up in your attic, it has damaging effects to your roof and causes your AC bills to increase because the system has to work that much harder to cool your home.
